2008 is when I intend for us (me and my sidekick) to be completely debt free. It seems possible as of now, but who knows what surprise expenses will pop up. I find budgeting very difficult. So my goal for 2008 is for us to discipline ourselves to remain within our budget. Anything that is not in the budget, we will just have to do without. I hope we can obtain this goal. If anybody can share any budget success stories, that would be awesome.

    I think it would nearly impossible to create a budget and never stray from that all year. It's kind of like someone going on a diet and saying 'I will never indulge again', and of course, we all know that kind of diet fails miserably.

    It might be better to create a small slush fund within your budget that could be used for monthly indulgences. You could each allow yourself a fixed $ amount of money each month that could be spent in whatever way you wish. That way, you probably wouldn't feel as deprived.

    You should definately each have a small allowance, no matter how small.
